Privacy policy

Who we are

dyslexia.vision is an information site for dyslexic employees. It is operated as a sole-trader publication based in the United Kingdom. The data controller is dyslexia.vision, contactable at the email address at the bottom of this page.

What data we collect — and what we don't

We use Google Analytics 4 to measure how many people visit the site and which pages they read (see the "Google Analytics" section below). We do not use advertising cookies. We do not have user accounts or comment sections. We do not track you across the web.

We operate a newsletter sign-up form. If you subscribe, see the "Newsletter" section below for full details of what is collected and why.

Apart from analytics, the only data this site stores is your accessibility preferences — font choice, text size, colour theme, and spacing — saved in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not sent to us or any third party.

Google Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google. It sets cookies (names starting with _ga) in your browser and sends Google information about your visit: the pages you view, roughly where you are (country and region), your device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. Google Analytics 4 does not store full IP addresses.

We use this data only to see which articles and tools are useful so we can improve them. We do not use it for advertising and we do not combine it with any information that identifies you. Google's privacy policy applies to the data it processes: policies.google.com/privacy.

You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.

Google Fonts

The site loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). When your browser requests a font file, Google receives your IP address, browser type, and the referring page URL. This is a standard HTTP request. Google's privacy policy applies to that data: policies.google.com/privacy.

We use Google Fonts because the typefaces (Atkinson Hyperlegible and DM Serif Display) are specifically chosen for readability. Atkinson Hyperlegible was designed by the Braille Institute to improve legibility for readers with low vision.

If you email us

If you contact us at our email address, we receive and store your email address and the contents of your message. We use this only to respond to you. We do not add you to any mailing list, share your email with third parties, or retain it beyond the period needed to resolve your query.

The legal basis for processing is legitimate interests (responding to a message you chose to send us).

Hosting

The site is hosted on Vercel (vercel.com). Vercel may log standard web server data — IP addresses, request URLs, timestamps — for security and performance purposes. Vercel's privacy policy: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to access, correct, or erase any personal data we hold about you. Because we hold no personal data on site visitors unless they email us, there is typically nothing to action. If you have emailed us and want your data erased, email us and we will delete your message and address.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been handled unlawfully: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Cookies

This site uses analytics cookies set by Google Analytics (see above). It sets no advertising cookies. Accessibility preferences are stored in localStorage, which is different from a cookie — it is not sent to the server with each request and does not track you. You can clear cookies and localStorage at any time through your browser settings.

Changes to this policy

If we add features that collect data (such as a newsletter or analytics), we will update this policy before those features go live and note the change date at the top of this page.

Newsletter — Dyslexia@Work

We operate a free weekly newsletter called Dyslexia@Work, delivered every Monday. If you subscribe via the sign-up form on this site, we collect your email address and pass it to Beehiiv (beehiiv.com), our newsletter platform.

What we collect: your email address, the date you subscribed, and the page you subscribed from (UTM source). We do not collect your name unless you provide it.

Legal basis: consent. You tick no pre-ticked boxes. The form makes clear what you are signing up for. You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking Unsubscribe in any newsletter email — this removes you from the list immediately.

Data processor: Beehiiv, Inc., 548 Market St PMB 166756, San Francisco, CA 94104, USA. Beehiiv is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and operates Standard Contractual Clauses for UK/EU data transfers. Beehiiv's privacy policy: beehiiv.com/privacy.

Retention: your email is held for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, Beehiiv retains a suppression record (your email in hashed form) to prevent accidental re-addition. To request full deletion, email us after unsubscribing and we will request erasure from Beehiiv on your behalf.
